Headlight Adjuster Control Unit Input Test

With HID Lamp
  1. Disconnect the 14P connecter (A) from the control unit (B).
  1. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, make the following input tests at the connector.
    • -
      If a test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
      -
      If all the input tests prove OK, the control unit must be faulty, replace it.

Headlights switch ON
Check for voltage to ground:
There should be 1.5 V or less.

Ignition switch ON (II)
Check for voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. 21 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open in the wire

Ignition switch ON (II): Raise the front of the vehicle, and rotate one wheel slowly while holding the other wheel.
Check for voltage between the No. 4 (+) terminal and No. 7 (−) terminals:
There should be 0−5 V or more 0−5 V or more repeatedly.
  • Faulty ECM/PCM
  • An open in the wire

Under all conditions
Check for continuity between the No. 5 and No. 6 terminals:
There should be approximately 5 kΩ.
Check for continuity between the No. 3 and No. 6 terminals:
There should be between approximately 0.5 kΩ and 4.5 kΩ.
  • Faulty front headlights adjuster sensor
  • An open in the wire

Check for continuity between the No. 2 and No. 9 terminals:
There should be approximately 5 kΩ.
Check for continuity between the No. 8 and No. 9 terminals:
There should be between approximately 0.5 kΩ and 4.5 kΩ.
  • Faulty front headlights adjuster sensor
  • An open in the wire

There should be between approximately 2 V and battery voltage.

  • An open in the wire
