Cam Chain Removal

NOTE: Keep the cam chain away from magnetic fields.
  1. Set up the No. 1 piston at top dead center (TDC). The ‘‘UP'' mark (A) on the cam chain sprocket should be at the top. Align the TDC marks (B) on the intake camshaft gear and the exhaust camshaft gear.
  1. Remove the right front tyre/wheel.
  1. Support the engine with a jack and wood block under the oil pan.

  1. Remove the ground cable (A), then remove the upper torque rod (B).

  1. Remove the side engine mount bracket.

  1. Remove the engine mount bracket.

  1. Remove the chain case.
  1. Loosely install the crankshaft pulley.

  1. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to compress the auto-tensioner.

  1. Align the holes on the lock (A) and the auto-tensioner (B), then insert a 2.5 mm (0.10 in.) diameter pin or stopper (P/N 13451-RBD-003) (C) into the holes. Turn the crankshaft clockwise to secure the pin.

  1. Remove the auto-tensioner.

  1. Remove the tensioner arm.
  1. Remove the cam chain.
