ABS Indicator Circuit Troubleshooting - Without VSA

ABS indicator does not come on
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and watch the ABS indicator.
Does the ABS indicator come on for several seconds?
YES -
The system is OK at this time.■
NO -
Go to Step 2 .
Is gauge control module OK?
YES -
Go to Step 3 .
NO -
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  1. Disconnect the gauge control module connector B (30P).
  1. Check for continuity between gauge control module connector B (30P) terminal No. 27 and the body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair short to body ground in the wire between the gauge control module and the ABS modulator-control unit.■
NO -
Check for loose treminals in the gauge control module connectors. If connectors are OK, replace the gauge control module.■

ABS indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored
  1. Disconnect the ABS control unit 25P connector.
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  1. Measure the voltage between the ABS control unit 25P connector terminal No. 16 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to Step 4 .
NO -
Repair open in the wire between the No. 18 (15 A) fuse and the ABS modulator-control unit.■
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Check for continuity between the ABS control unit 25P connector terminal No. 24 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to Step 6 .
NO -
Repair open in the wire between the ABS modulator-control unit and body ground (G202).■
  1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

  1. Connect the ABS control unit 25P connector terminal No. 21 and body ground with a jumper wire.
Does the ABS indicator go off?
YES -
Check for the loose terminals in the ABS control unit 25P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good ABS modulator-control unit , and recheck.■
NO -
Go to Step 8 .
  1. Remove the gauge control module, and leave the connectors connected.

  1. Connect gauge control module connector B (30P) terminal No. 27 and body ground with a jumper wire.
Does the ABS indicator go off?
YES -
Repair open in the wire between the gauge control module and the ABS modulator-control unit.■
NO -
