VACUUM/PUMP GAUGE AS73XVMI—XXXXX HOSE #2 DIAPMRAGM A Start the engine, allow it to idle and check for vacuum. There should be vacuum. 0 I! there ls no vacuum, check the vacuum line for leaks, blockage or a disconnected hose and re-test. Apply 500 mmHg (20 in.Hg) vacuum ~10 the dlar nhragm A. Timing should advance and remain steady. 0 ll timing does not advance, stop the engine and remove distributor c594 Turn breaker plate right and lelt to check lor freedom of movement. If there is no evidence of binding, replace advance diaphragm and retest. o. Warm-up the engine until the cooling fan comes on. Disconnect vacuum hose #5 lrom the vacuum advance diaphragm B on the distributor and con~ nect a vaouum pump/gauge to the hose. NOSE Allow the engine to idle and check for vacuum. There should be no vacuum. o if there is vacuum, check for voltage at the cold advance solenoid valve. 7 I! there is voltage. replace the ECU and re- test. 7 If there is no voltage, replace the cold advance solenoid valve. Raise engine speed to 1,700 rpm and check for vacuum. There should be vacuum. 0 it there is no vacuumxoheck for voltage at the cold advance solenoid valve aner checking the vacuum line (or leaks, blockage or a disconnected hose. — If there is voltage, replace the cold advance solenoid valve and rertest. — it there is no voltage, replace the ecu and ra~ test. lcontd) 11-49
