A/T D3 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting (Except KH)

1.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2.Disconnect the D3 switch/shift lock solenoid/park pin switch connector.

3.Check for continuity between D3 switch/shift lock solenoid/park pin switch connector terminal No. 5 and No. 6 at pressing the D3 switch.

 

Does the D3 switch switch continuity and no continuity between connector terminals at pressing the switch?


YES - Go to 4.


NO - Replace the D3 switch.n

4.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

5.Shift to the D position, and select D3 driving mode by pressing the D3 switch.

6.Measure the voltage between D3 switch/shift lock solenoid/park pin switch connector terminal No. 6 and body ground.

 

Is there about 5 V (KU, KU-H, KN, KM, KT, KP, KW, FO, MA, PH, IN, KZ, and KH models) or battery voltage (KE, KG, and KS models)?


YES - Repair open in the wire between D3 switch/shift lock solenoid/park pin switch connector terminal No. 5 and ground (G451), or repair poor ground (G451).n


NO - Go to 7.

7.Measure the voltage between the following terminals and body ground:

  • For KU, KU-H, KN, KM, KT, KP, KW, FO, MA, PH, IN, and KZ models: Between PCM connector terminal D2 and body ground.
  • For KE, KG, and KS models: Between PCM connector terminal D3 and body ground.

 

 

Is there about 5 V (KU, KU-H, KN, KM, KT, KP, KW, FO, MA, PH, IN, and KZ models) or battery voltage (KE, KG, and KS models)?


YES -

  • For KU, KU-H, KN, KM, KT, KP, KW, FO, MA, PH, IN, and KZ models: Repair open or short in the wire between PCM connector terminal D2 and D3 switch/shift lock solenoid/park pin switch connector.n
  • For KE, KG, and KS models: Repair open or short in the wire between PCM connector terminal D3 and D3 switch/shift lock solenoid/park pin switch connector.n

NO - Check for loose terminal fit in the PCM connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck.n
