A/T Shift Solenoid Valve Replacement

.Remove the splash shield.

.Remove the drain plug (A), and drain the automatic transmission fluid (ATF). Then reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer (B).

.Disconnect the battery negative terminal, then disconnect the battery positive terminal.

.Remove the battery hold-down bracket, then remove the battery and battery tray.

.Remove the battery base.

.Place the transmission jack under the transmission, and lift it up to create clearance between the transmission and front subframe.

.Disconnect the shift solenoid harness connector.

.Remove the bolt (A) securing the bracket (B) of the ATF cooler inlet line (C) on the shift solenoid valve cover (D), and remove the line bolt (E) and sealing washers (F).

.Remove the shift solenoid valve cover, dowel pins (G), and gasket (H).

.Disconnect the shift solenoid valve connectors, remove the solenoid mounting bolts, then hold the solenoid valve body and remove the shift valves. Do not hold the connector to remove the shift solenoid valve.

.Install the new O-rings (two O-rings per solenoid valve) (F) on the replacement solenoid valve.

.Install the shift solenoid valves C, D, and E. While holding the shift solenoid valve body, be sure to install the solenoid valves until their mounting brackets contact the servo body.

.Install the shift solenoid valves A and B. While holding the shift solenoid valve body, be sure to install the solenoid valves until their mounting brackets contact the bracket of the installed solenoid. Install the solenoid mounting bolts (H) and tighten them.

NOTE: Do not install the solenoid valves A and B before installing the shift solenoid valves D and E. If solenoid valves A and B are installed before solenoid valves D and E, it may damage the hydraulic control system.

.Connect the shift solenoid valve D connector (G) with the ATF temperature sensor.

.Connect the solenoid valve A connector (BLU wire), solenoid valve B connector (ORN wire), solenoid valve C connector (GRN wire), solenoid valve D connector (YEL wire), and solenoid valve E connector (RED wire).

.Install the shift solenoid valve cover, dowel pins and a new gasket.

.Install the ATF cooler inlet line with the line bolt and the new sealing washers. Create clearance with the jack between the transnmission and the front subframe to tighten the line bolt to the specified torque with the torque wrench.

.Secure the ATF cooler line bracket on the shift solenoid valve cover with the bolt.

.Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, then connect the connector securely.

.Remove the transmission jack.

.Refill the transmission with ATF.

.Install the battery base, battery tray, and battery, then secure the battery with its hold-down bracket.

.Connect the battery terminals.

.Install the splash shield.

.Perform the power window control unit reset procedure.
