A/T Pressure Test

Special Tools Required
A/T oil pressure gauge set (  07406-0020004)
 



1.Before testing, be sure the transmission fluid is filled to the proper level.

2.4WD model: Raise the vehicle, make sure it is securely supported, and allow all four wheels to rotate freely.
2WD model: Raise the front of the vehicle, make sure it is securely supported. Set the parking brake, block rear wheels securely, and allow the front wheels to rorate freely, Or raise the vehicle.

3.Remove the splash shield.

4.Warm up the engine (the radiator fan comes on), then stop it and connect the HDS to the DLC (A).

 

5.Connect the oil pressure gauges to the line pressure inspection hole (A). Do not allow dust or other foreign particles to enter the hole while connecting the gauge.

 

 

6.Start the engine, and run it at 2,000 rpm (min-1) in the P or N position.

7.Measure line pressure at the line pressure inspection hole (A).

NOTE: Higher pressure may be indicated if measurements are made in shift lever position other than P or N.

8.Turn the engine off, then disconnect the oil pressure gauge from the line pressure inspection hole.

9.Install the sealing bolt to the line pressure inspection hole with the new sealing washer, and tighten the bolts to 18 N·m (1.8 kgf·m, 13 lbf·ft). Do not reuse old sealing washer.

10.Connect the oil pressure gauge to the 1st clutch pressure inspection hole (B).

 

11.Remove the intake air duct and air cleaner housing, and connect the oil pressure gauge to the 2nd clutch pressure inspection hole (C). Then temporarily install the air cleaner housing and intake air duct.

 

12.Start the engine, shift to the 1 position, and measure 1st clutch pressure at the 1st clutch pressure inspection hole (B) while holding engine speed at 2,000 rpm (min-1).

13.Shift to the 2 position, and measure 2nd clutch pressure at the 2nd clutch pressure inspection hole (C) while holding engine speed at 2,000 rpm (min-1).

14.Turn the engine off, then disconnect the oil pressure gauges from the 1st clutch pressure and 2nd clutch pressure inspection holes.

15.Install the sealing bolts to the 1st clutch pressure and 2nd clutch pressure inspection holes with the new sealing washers, and tighten the bolts to 18 N·m (1.8 kgf·m, 13 lbf·ft). Do not reuse old sealing washers.

16.Connect the oil pressure gauge to the 3rd clutch pressure inspection hole (D) and 5th clutch pressure inspection hole (F).

 

17.Connect the oil pressure gauge to the 4th clutch pressure inspection hole (E).

 

18.Start the engine with the transmission in the P position while pressing the brake pedal.

19.Shift to the D position, and select the D3 driving mode by pressing the D3 switch. Release the brake pedal; the transmission is in 1st gear.

20.Press the accelerator pedal to increase the engine speed to 2,500 rpm (min-1); the transmission shifts to 2nd gear.

21.Release the accelerator pedal to close fully the throttle over 5 seconds; the engine speed decrease to 1,000 rpm (min-1) with the transmission in 2nd gear.

22.Press the accelerator pedal very slowly to increase the engine speed to 2,000 rpm (min-1) over 5 seconds, and hold the accelerator; the transmission shifts to 3rd gear. Measure 3rd clutch pressure at the 3rd clutch pressure inspection hole (D) while holding engine speed at 2,000 rpm (min-1).

23.Release the D3 driving mode by pressing in the D3 switch; the transmission shifts to 4th gear, then 5th gear. Measure 4th clutch pressure at the 4th clutch pressure inspection hole (E) and 5th clutch pressure at the 5th clutch pressure inspection hole (F) while holding engine speed at 2,000 rpm (min-1).

24.Bring the engine back to an idle, then apply the brake pedal to stop the wheels from rotating.

25.Shift to the R position, then release the brake pedal. Raise the engine speed to 2,000 rpm (min-1), and measure 4th clutch pressure at the 4th clutch pressure inspection hole (E).

26.Turn the engine off, then disconnect the oil pressure gauges from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th clutch pressure inspection holes.

27.Install the sealing bolts to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th clutch pressure inspection holes with the new sealing washers, and tighten the bolts to 18 N·m (1.8 kgf·m, 13 lbf·ft). Do not reuse old sealing washers.

28.If the measurements are out of the service limit, problems and probable causes are listed in the table.

29.Install the air cleaner housing and intake air duct.

30.Install the splash shield.
