Removal

1.Remove the engine cover.

2.Remove the intercooler outlet hose (A) and vacuum hoses (B).

3.Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

4.Remove the dipstick.

5.Remove the dipstick tube (A) and O-ring (B).

6.Remove the engine wire harness connectors and wire harness clamps from the intake manifold.

  • Intake manifold runner control (IMRC) solenoid valve connector
  • Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control solenoid valve connector
  • EGR cooler bypass control solenoid valve connector
  • Manifold absolute pressure (MAP)/intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector
  • IMRC valve position sensor connector

7.Remove the IMRC solenoid valve mounting bolt (A), EGR control solenoid valve mounting bolts (B), EGR cooler bypass control solenoid valve mounting bolt (C), and vacuum pipe mounting bolt (D), then remove the solenoid valves/vacuum line assembly.

8.Remove the fuel rail from the intake manifold.

9.Remove the water bypass hose (A), then remove the water bypass line (B) from the intake manifold.

10.Remove the bolt (A) securing the intake manifold and intake manifold bracket.

11.Remove the intake manifold (B).

Installation

1.Install the intake manifold (A) with a new gasket (B), and tighten the bolts/nuts in a crisscross pattern in two or three steps, beginning with the inner bolt.

2.Tighten the bolt (C) securing the intake manifold and intake manifold bracket.

3.Install the water bypass line (A) on the intake manifold, then install the water bypass hose (B).

4.Install the fuel rail to the intake manifold.

5.Install the solenoid valves/vacuum line assembly, and tighten the IMRC solenoid valve mounting bolt (A), EGR control solenoid valve mounting bolts (B), EGR cooler bypass control solenoid valve mounting bolt (C), and vacuum pipe mounting bolt (D).

6.Install the dipstick tube (A) with new O-ring (B).

7.Install the dipstick.

8.Install the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

9.Install the intercooler outlet hose (A), and secure the hose with the band (B).

10.Install the vacuum hoses (C).

11.Install the engine cover.

12.After installation, check that all tubes, hoses, and connectors are installed correctly.

13.Do the fuel system bleed procedure.
