M/T Assembly Removal

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1.Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the frequencies for the radio preset buttons.
Disconnect the negative (-) cable first, then the positive (+) cable from the battery. Remove the battery.

2.Remove the air cleaner housing.

3.Remove the battery base (A).

 

4.Remove the resonator chamber.

 

5.Remove the battery base bracket.

 

6.Carefully remove the slave cylinder without bending the clutch line. Do not press the clutch pedal once the slave cylinder has been removed.

 

7.Remove the cable bracket (A), then disconnect the cables (B) from the top of the transmission housing. Carefully remove both cables and the bracket together to avoid bending the cables.

 

8.Disconnect the countershaft speed sensor connector (A), back-up light switch connector (B) and reverse lockout solenoid connector (C).

 

9.Remove the transmission upper mounting bolts (A), harness bracket (B), and harness (C).

 

10.Attach the engine hanger (A) to the threaded holes in the cylinder head.

NOTE: The engine hanger should avoid and attach the fuel hose and the air hose.

 

11.Attach the chain hoist (B) to the engine.

12.Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

13.Drain the transmission fluid. Reinstall the drain bolt using a new washer.

14.Remove the splash shield.

 

15.For 4WD models, remove the propeller shaft.

16.Separate the front stabilizer link.

17.Separate the knuckle from the lower arm.

18.Remove the inboard joint of driveshafts.

19.Remove the lower torque rod.

 

20.Remove the intermediate shaft.

21.Remove the transmission lower mount.

 

22.Support the subframe with a 4 x 4 x 40 in. piece of wood and a jack.

 

23.Remove the front suspension subframe.

 

24.Remove the transmission mount bolt, nuts, bolt, and the ground cable bolt.

 

25.Remove the stud bolts (A).

 

26.Remove the transmission mount (B).

27.Remove the intercooler pipe.

 

28.Place the transmission jack under the transmission, and remove the lower transmission mounting bolts.

 

 

29.Pull the transmission away from the engine until the transmission mainshaft clears the clutch pressure plate, then lower the transmission on the transmission jack.

30.Remove the boot (A), release fork (B), and release bearing (C) from the transmission (D).
