DTC Troubleshooting: P0563 (34-6)

DTC P0563:  ECM Power Source Circuit High Voltage

1.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2.Check the BATTERY in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is there about 18.2 V or more?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Go to 4.


3.Check the battery voltage with a circuit tester.

Is there about 18.2 V or more?


YES - Replace the battery, then go to 6.


NO - Go to 8.


4.Start the engine.

5.Check the BATTERY in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is there about 18.2 V or more?


YES - Check the alternator, then go to 6.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time.n


6.Reset the ECM with the HDS.

7.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P0563 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.


NO - Troubleshooting is complete.n

8.Update the ECM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM.

9.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P0563 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.


NO - If the ECM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM was substituted, replace the original ECM.n
